COVID-19 (Coronavirus) Update March 12, 2020

March 12, 2020  |  Announcements, Life at SEM Haven

Effective immediately, all United Church Homes communities will limit visitation at the guidance of the Center for Medicare & Medicaid Services and Ohio Department of Health.

With confirmed COVID-19 cases in the United States, we are taking the cautionary steps to limit visitation under guidance from federal, state, and local health officials.

While there have been no cases of COVID-19 in our communities, protecting our residents and the employees who care for them is a top priority. Older adults can become seriously ill from COVID-19 and we are asking family members and friends to avoid all non-essential visits and not bring children under age 18 into the community.

In accordance with the Ohio guidelines, we are permitting one visitor per resident, per day and will limit visits to immediate family, resident representative or a significant other.

All visitors will be screened upon arrival for the following:

    • Signs or symptoms of a fever, respiratory infection, such as fever, cough, shortness of breath, or sore throat.

    • In the last 14 days, has had contact with someone with a confirmed diagnosis of COVID-19, or is under investigation for COVID-19, or are ill with respiratory illness.

    • International travel within the last 14 days to countries with sustained community transmission.

Persons who fall into the above categories will be asked to reschedule their visit. Other non-essential guests will not be allowed to enter the community, and healthcare providers who visit the campus will need to follow strict infection control procedures.

We will also be limiting visiting hours to 8:00am - 5:30pm and know this restriction will be difficult for those who visit frequently after work and for residents who look forward to seeing friends and family members. Please know we will work with you to arrange phone calls or other ways to connect with your loved one during this time.  We advise you to call ahead prior to visiting 513-248-1270. Thank you for your cooperation during this time.
